Ageing Population & Digital Care
From the latest census in 2021, it was found that 3.3 million people aged 65 years and over were living alone in England and Wales. Across this age group, it was reported that those living alone were often in less than good health; so would have more likely required some sort of care or assistance from others.
Langzhi, with the development of the Digital Care Mat range, recognised this gap in the care industry.
Where it is not always possible to have a physical person or carer to be with someone, the digital care mats can offer a level of comfort to family and friends through the vital signs monitoring.
With the use of latest technology to record heart rate/blood pressure, as well as the ability to detect movement in and out of bed; which all can then be wirelessly transmitted to an App, it means that family members can keep an eye on those who may be living alone and can be alerted to any potential problems.
Heart Related Illnesses
On top of the ageing population, a study by the British Heart Foundation recorded that there are around 7.6 million people living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK. Heart and circulatory diseases are also the cause of over a quarter of the deaths per year in the UK, at approximately 170,000 deaths per year.
With the ability to track vital signs whilst in bed, the aim of the digital care products is to alert the user, family members, or even carers of any changes which may require medical attention in the hope that it could save lives.
